Special Olympians and area law enforcement will participate Thursday morning in the annual Torch Run, and supporters are needed along the route to cheer them on.

The Torch Run symbolizes the beginning of Virginia’s Special Olympics Summer Games.

The run begins at 9 a.m. at the Marine Corps War Memorial with officers carrying the Flame of Hope along the Mount Vernon Trail to St. Mary’s School and Jones Point Road in Alexandria.

New Route in Prince William County

Due to construction along U.S. 1 in Prince William County, and the hazards it creates for runners, the route has been altered for 2018.

The run in Prince William County starts around 10 a.m. at Fire Station 17 at 15219 Holleyside Drive in Montclair and runners will travel down Cardinal Drive to U.S. 1 at Gar-Field Station around 11 a.m. They’ll continue down Route 1 to Marine Corps Base Quantico….[Article continues via link]
