As reported by WJLA: It’s finals time at Prince William County Schools, but another kind of testing is now underway — lead testing in the water.

“It could damage the kids or adults,” says Carolyn Melvin, who visited Dumfries Elementary School to pick up her grandson Jeremiah after classes. “I mean, whatever they can do to clean this up.”

School district officials are trying to solve a metallic mystery.

Four elementary schools: Marumsco Hills, Dumfries, Vaughan, and a Pattie School annex have elevated lead levels, in their water— but only from one faucet per school.

The levels are above the district’s 15 parts per billion safety standard.
