The decision by the Virginia DMV to close the county elections office housed in the Woodbridge DMV was short lived, thanks to citizen outcry and swift action by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. A to the PWC Director of Elections from the Commissioner of the DMV, dated March 2, stated that the county would have to close the office effective February 28, 2018, and starting July 1, pay a monthly rent of $2,600.
Supervisor Frank Principi drafted a resolution urging the Commissioner to reverse the decision, which he did on March 24, and the Woodbridge elections office at 2731 Caton Hill Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22192 will remain open. It’s currently open for absentee voting in the special election for Clerk of the Court, now through April 15. Election day itself is April 18.
