CITIZEN’S TIME
pic22The board sets aside 30 minutes as Citizen’s Time at all regular meetings. This time is not a question-and-answer period, but rather a time for citizens to speak to the Board. The Board appreciates citizen comments, and when appropriate, the Chairman will refer citizen concerns to staff or government agencies.

Citizen’s Time is held at the beginning of each session of the Board of County Supervisor’s meetings. The following guidance is provided so that time can be most meaningful to you, to other citizens who desire to speak and to the Board.

At the Board’s afternoon and evening sessions, you may address the Board without restriction on any item not on the public hearing calendar for the day for up to three (3) minutes. The Chairman will allocate the time equitably among those desiring to speak. A lighted timer at the podium will turn red to advise you when your time is over, after which you must leave the lectern.

The Chairman will recognize you in turn and first ask you to state your name and address. Direct your comments to the Board as a whole through the Chairman. References to individual Board members should be “Supervisor” or “Mr.,” “Mrs.,” or “Ms.,” as appropriate.
