Woodbridge, Virginia is on the 2017 “Best Places to Live” list

The Woodbridge District is home to many of Prince William County’s original neighborhoods, developed in the 1950s and 1960s. Our proximity to employment centers, well-rated schools, diversity of housing, range of recreation options and high quality of life continue to attract people to Woodbridge. Today, the area along Route 1 is an intersection of old and new, with modern apartment complexes and luxury housing nestled alongside these earliest homes.

Preserving our past as we build a bright a future requires a balance of maintaining the best qualities of these founding neighborhoods while investing in their maintenance and revitalization of the Route 1 corridor. Through Neighborhood Services, residents have access to programs and processes that improve and protect property values, and Supervisor Principi’s staff conduct rolling inspections of neighborhoods that are not represented by homeowners associations.

Since 2008, New Woodbridge has also benefited from an injection of over $1.5 billion in public and private investment funding improvements in public safety, parks,  historical sites, libraries, and schools. A 50-mile Woodbridge Pedestrian & Bicycle Loop now invites residents to explore the community on foot or bike, taking in the natural beauty, history and shopping and dining attractions, including segments of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail .

New private sector community development projects are also adding to the tapestry of New Woodbridge, such as the George Mason University Potomac Science Center, Regional Center for Workforce Education & Training, Grubb’s Environmental Center at the Mooney Water Reclamation Facility, and the surgery center at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.

The Vision also invests in other elements of strong neighborhoods, such education, public safety as affordable housing, environmental stewardship, historic preservation and public safety. Join the community dialogue through free membership in the Woodbridge Potomac Communities Civic Association, signing up for neighborhood news and Town Hall invites from Supervisor Principi’s office and attending Board of County Supervisor meetings.
