Neabsco Creek Boardwalk opening in Woodbridge

Members of the Woodbridge community are celebrating the completion of a new regional site.

The grand opening of the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk is just a few weeks away.

Tours, entertainment and food trucks are a few attractions that await attendees of the program, which will occur at 15125 Blackburn Road.

“Please join us on Saturday, June 1 from 10 [a.m.] to 4 [p.m.] at the only place you can walk on water here in Prince William County — that’s Neabsco Creek Boardwalk,” Supervisor Frank Principi said.

In December 2017, officials began working on the trail that runs across Neabsco Creek.

It connects the Rippon Landing Community Park and the Julie A. Metz Wetlands Preserve, and features an observation tower.

Constructed by Nature Bridges, the boardwalk offers community members an opportunity to experience nature.

“Those coming to the boardwalk will enjoy seeing herons and egrets, bald eagles, snakes, beavers, muskrats — you name it,” Principi said. “You’ll be able to see, firsthand, the wildlife that we have here in Woodbridge, Virginia.”
