Families with young children will have a new place to beat the heat this summer, when a children’s water park opens in place of the pool at Andrew Leitch Park in Dale City, Virginia.
The old pool and water features were “completely outdated,” according to Amarjit Riat, the Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation project manager overseeing the project, and there were numerous times the pool was shut down to make repairs. “It was 23 years old and there was a lot of maintenance we had to do.”
Currently under construction, the new park will be a zero-depth facility, and is slated to open Memorial Weekend 2018. Instead of a pool, there will be multiple water features to entertain children. Be on the lookout for water fun such as Misty Mountain, Sneaky Soaker, Bloomin’ Soaker, Geyser, Solo Spurt, Gusher, Funbrella and Bubble Trouble, among many others.
“The spray ground will feature interactive climbing and crawling experiences and numerous spray elements that appeal to younger children. It is very well designed and state-of-the-art. They will love it,” Riat said.
