PWC Dog License Deadline – all dogs 4 months of age and older

February 1 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm


 Dog Licenses (both new and renewal licenses) can be purchased online at


All dogs four months of age and older must be licensed by February 1 or within 30 days of moving to Prince William County.  Dog licenses are renewed annually and can be purchased beginning in November.  Dog owners moving into the County must comply with the license requirements and register their dogs at the time of the move.

Any dog not having a license tag after January 31 will be in violation of County Code and the owner subject to a fine.  Prince William Code Chapter 4, Article IV.


The fee is $10 per dog license.
Download a Dog License Application Form and return it with a current rabies vaccination certificate.  A license will only be issued with proof of a current rabies vaccination.
New and Renewal Dog Licenses can be purchased online at

Dog owners with five (5) or more dogs will need a Kennel License and Zoning Approval for a Noncommercial Kennel.  Owners must provide a Rabies Certificate for each dog upon registration and when requested by the County.

The annual license fee for a Kennel License depends on the number of dogs.
5-10 dogs……$20.00
11-20 dogs……$25.00
21 and more…$50.00

All cats four months of age and older must have a current rabies vaccination (see the Prince William Code Chapter 4, Article V).  Cats are not required to be licensed.
