Progress continues on Woodbridge sections of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, which links the Potomac and upper Ohio river basins following the paths explored by George Washington. Here are the latest updates on the effort to connect the sections of the trail that run through Woodbridge, Va.:
- The Occoquan segment is scheduled to start construction in August (2016) and finish in February (2017), with a total cost a $258,651.46.
- The Heritage Harbour segment will cost $38K and will be completed in conjunction with the Featherstone segment.
- The Featherstone segment is scheduled to start construction in October (2016) and finish in April (2017) and will cost $685K.
- The Neabsco Creek Crossing is scheduled to start construction in March (2017) and finish September (2018) and will cost $4,455,156.
These 4 segments will bring the Woodbridge component to about 99% done. There are a few small connectors that will be completed after the 3 major segments above (Occoquan, Featherstone and Neabsco Creek) are completed.
